English liquor now available at Indian prices… These whiskeys and beers will become very cheap due to India-UK deal!

Editor Journalist Amardeep Chauhan/AmarKhabar.com After many years of discussions, a Free Trade Agreement has been signed between India and UK. It was signed in the presence of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UK PM Keir Starmer. This deal will increase trade between the two countries by $34 billion annually.
According to the document, after the FTA, duty on 99% of Indian exports to Britain will be abolished, which includes textiles, generic medicines and medical equipment, leather goods and agricultural and chemical products. This means that these things can become cheaper. At the same time, it will become easier for British companies to export whiskey, cars and other products to India. Also, trade will be boosted and custom duty on 90 percent of British goods in India will be reduced.
This is the most important trade agreement for India so far and it will reduce the barriers to attract investment in the South Asian country. This deal will provide a new market for some Indian wine going to the UK. At the same time, some expensive liquor bottles of UK will become cheaper in India.
Which British wines will be cheaper?
Under the Free Trade Agreement, India will reduce the duty on UK whisky from the current 150% to 75% and aims to reduce it further to 40% in the next 10 years. This means that the prices of whisky coming from Britain will fall.
Prices of famous whisky Johnny Walker, Chivas Regal, Single Malt Scotch, Glenmorangie, Blended Scotch Whiskey and Jura may fall in India. Britain’s premium gin brands, such as Tanqueray and Bombay Sapphire, Beefeater and Gordon’s, may also become cheaper.
How much can their prices reduce?
It is being estimated that if the price of a British whisky is Rs 3000, then after the FTA, the price of this Scotch whisky bottle can be up to Rs 1200. At the same time, a bottle of gin worth Rs 4000 can be available for Rs 1600.
Goa’s Feni gets international market
After the signing of the India-UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA) on Thursday, Goa’s famous liquor Feni and Kerala’s traditional Toddy have been given a big market by the United Kingdom (UK). According to PTI, Indian drinks like Goa’s Feni, Nashik wine and Kerala Toddy have got a new market, which will further strengthen their hold at the global level. Now these things will also be available at UK retail stores and high-end hospitality venues.
Target to export wine up to $ 1 billion
These traditional alcoholic drinks of India will now compete with world-renowned brands like Scotch whisky, which will meet the growing demand in Britain for natural, organic and heritage-rich products. The ministry further said that apart from the retail market, the FTA opens up export opportunities in the hospitality sector, giving Indian alcoholic beverages a new international platform. This platform will increase India’s alcoholic beverage exports. Currently worth US$370.5 million, the sector aims to cross US$1 billion by 2030.
